The first coin from the new "The Eight Protectors" series. This series presents 8 Buddhist protectors who serve as defenders of the 12 zodiac animals and, consequently, humans. Of the eight, four guards the four main world directions. The first coin depicts the Goddess of Mercy with a Thousand Hands. It protects the zodiac rat. The faithful pray to her to prevent diseases and eye problems. Various objects held in the hands of the deity are instruments of salvation and symbolize the diversity of its many salvific roles. The coin was struck from 5 ounces of fine silver. The coin, in addition to silver, also consists of over 28 ounces of copper. It is decorated with a high relief and its diameter of 120 mm makes it an extraordinary collector coin. On the reverse side there is an engraved image of the goddess. The obverse is decorated with images of animals from the Chinese lunar calendar.
