D'Artagnan is the main character in Alexandre Dumas' Three Musketeers series of novels. He is a musketeer of King Louis XIII and Louis XIV. A friend of Athos, Porthos and Aramis. The prototype of this character was a Gascon nobleman, Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan. Everyone will find the famous phrase "One for all, all for one!" uttered by D'Artagnan.  The main character is a young, poor nobleman from Gascony who comes to Paris to make his fortune. His character is one of courage, nobility, ambition and intelligence. Like any Romantic hero, he is driven by love and the spirit of chivalry. This brave young man is a precursor to the idea that each individual should act for the good of the group, and the group - for the good of each of its members. The centre of the reverse of the coin features D'Artagnan. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Technologies such as digital printing, antique finish and high relief were used to produce the coin.
