Another coin from the "Australia at Night"series. The coin with Black Proof finish depicts a dingo with cubs, against the background of the moon. The obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin comes in the original box with a certificate. The dingo is a representative of the canine family, inhabiting Australia and New Guinea. It is similar to the domestic dog, but differs from it in many important characteristics, including a different skull structure and is not able to bark. In the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, it is classified as VU (threatened with extinction). The main problem threatening the dingo population is interbreeding with domestic dogs. In Australia, a so-called Dingo Fence has been built to protect the most inhabited south-eastern areas of Australia from dingoes.
