There are different stories about the constellation of the emu throughout the country. Some Aboriginal peoples of Australia saw within today's Southern Cross a constellation made up not of stars, but of dark clouds in the shape of an emu. This coin was struck from 1/2 oz of pure silver. It is decorated with engraving depicting the indigenous people of Australia and above them there is an image of the emu constellation against the background of the night sky.
