He struggled with mental illness and was poor and practically unknown all his life. Vincent van Gogh has completed over 2100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and over 1300 watercolours, drawings and sketches. In 10 years, van Gogh has created over 43 self-portraits. Starry Night is an oil painting painted in June 1889, during the artist's stay in Saint-Rémy on voluntary psychiatric therapy. As one of Van Gogh's few works, it was painted entirely out of memory and thanks to the author's imagination. It is one of his most famous works. It became the subject of poetry, prose and the song "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)". Don McLean. Since 1941 the painting has been part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The coin was made from 2 ounces of pure silver combined with 33.5 ounces of copper.
