To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope, a coin has been released depicting one of the most famous views of the cosmos, captured by the telescope. The coin was struck from 1 ounce of fine silver and the worldwide mintage is limited to 1990 pieces. The Hubble Space Telescope is a space telescope orbiting the Earth, named after American astronomer Edwin Hubble. It was launched into orbit by the space shuttle Discovery on mission STS-31 on April 24, 1990. Since its launch in 1990, the telescope has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy.
