The collectible Krugerrand 2 oz Silver Proof is made of pure Ag.999 silver. It is worth noting that this copy is minted in the proof standard, i.e. a stamp was used to produce it, giving the coin a mirror image. The South African Mint is responsible for issuing Krugerrands.
Moreover, each Krugerrand is a legal tender that is guaranteed by the South African government as to its legality, purity and origin of the metal. Additionally, it is worth knowing that although Krugerrands are legal tender, they have no monetary value. This means that the South African Reserve Bank is obliged to buy back the coins at the prevailing bullion price.
The obverse is decorated with a portrait of Paul Kruger and the inscription "South Africa" in Afrikaans and English. The obverse was designed by Otto Schultz.
The reverse shows a springbok antelope, which is the symbol of South Africa. On both sides there are numbers representing the year of issue, below it there is the inscription "Fynsilwer 2oz fine silver r2", indicating the pure silver content. The designer of the reverse was Coert Steynberg.
