There are many legends and stories related to the history of ancient Egypt. The Lithuania Mint has just released a new coin in its "Goddesses and Gods" series, dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet. The coin was struck from 2 ounces of pure silver. It has been refined in a number of ways: it is decorated with color printing, selective gold plating and Swarovski crystal. The mintage is limited to 500 pieces.     Sekhmet is the goddess of war, vengeance and disease in Egyptian mythology, and the tutelary goddess of Lower Egypt. Literally translated, her name means "Powerful." She was depicted as a woman standing or sitting on a throne with the head of a lioness. The priests of Sechmet formed a special association of healers who used magic to fight disease.
