Another coin of the series "The Great Polish Economists". On the reverse there is a stylized portrait of Leopold Caro. In the background of the portrait there is a composition of squares of different sizes, creating a separate vertical plane. Leopold Caro - Polish economist and lawyer. Professor of the Lviv Polytechnic. Supporter of the so-called Catholic solidarity. Author of the work Solidaryzm. In 1894, he passed his bar exam, after which he settled in Cracow, where he worked as an attorney until 1914, while at the same time working for the Society for the Care of Social Sciences. In his numerous works, he now focused mainly on the problems of agricultural development and the situation of the rural population. At the same time, he attacked the ethics of Judaism. The condemnation of many Jewish communities was the final cause of Caro's conversion to Catholicism in 1903. He also conducted in-depth studies on the issues of emigration and emigration policy. In the first decade of the 20th century he was also closely connected with the Catholic social movement. In 1920-1939 he was a professor of social economy and legal sciences at the Lviv Polytechnic. He was one of the most active scientists, both in terms of the number of publications and social activity. He left over 200 major works. His legacy consists of several books and numerous dissertations and articles published since 1886, in more than 60 magazines and daily newspapers.  The importance of Caro as an economist lies in the fact that he was one of the first in Poland to proclaim the need for extensive direct and indirect state intervention in the economy, through both traditional interventionist measures and the development of the state sector.
