It is estimated that there are more than 2 million cities in the world. Most of us have never thought about the number and variety of cities. Do you know which cities that existed centuries ago were important, powerful, and magnificent? Some of them have disappeared mysteriously, and only history, legends, and magnificent architecture remain. We present the third coin in the ''Lost World'' series. This is a coin dedicated to the city of Pompeii, located in the region of today's Campania, Italy, destroyed during the Roman Empire by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The volcanic ash has preserved buildings, objects and some human and animal bodies, giving an insight into the life of a medium-sized ancient Roman city. The ruins of Pompeii are located about 20 km southeast of Naples.
