The third coin from the "Star Dreaming" series. The Shark constellation was very important to the Torres Strait Islanders. The Shark constellation is made up of stars located in the Ursa Major. When these stars appear in the north over New Guinea, the islanders knew it was a time for fishing, planting crops and turtle hunting. It is believed that the indigenous Australians were the first astronomers. The stars showed them the way, served as a calendar, a timekeeping tool or a weather forecast. The coin was struck from 1/2 oz of pure silver. On the reverse side there is an image of a pleiad of stars, shown as colourful stars, but also as women. The coin is supplied with the certificate of authenticity in a thematic packaging.
