Vitruvian Man is a drawing made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1490, accompanied by notes based on the work of the Roman architect Vitruvius. The drawing depicts a man in two superimposed positions, with arms and legs apart, inscribed in a circle and square. It represents Leonardo da Vinci's concept of ideal human body proportions. The original is kept in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Venice, Italy.
The coin combines the Vitruvian man along with the invention of Wilhelm Röntgen. In 1895, he discovered X-rays. The photograph of his wife's hand was the first photograph of a human body part using X-rays.
Both works contributed to major advances in the understanding of the human body.
