Samwise Gamgee is a character from the novel The Lord of the Rings, created by J.R.R. Tolkien. He was chosen to be a member of the Fellowship of the Ring. After the breakup of the Fellowship at Parth, Galen followed Frodo to Mordor to destroy the One Ring in the fire of Mount Doom. For a time after the battle with Shelob, convinced that Frodo was dead, he wore the Ring and became its Trustee for a time. In 3021 he accompanied Frodo on his final journey, to Mithlond, from where Frodo sailed to Aman with Bilbo, Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel.
