The Siren is a dangerous and cunning creature in Greek mythology, a femme fatale, imagined as half woman, half bird. Later, as in Roman mythology, a sea nymph was depicted as a fish with a woman's head or as half woman, half fish. The new coin of the Mint of Poland was struck in fine silver and hand-painted to bring out the uniqueness of the mermaid's image. Independent, sensitive and yearning for freedom, the Mermaid embodies feminine nature - sensual, tempting, emotional and beautiful, and at the same time wild and unpredictable.
