In 2002, the National Bank of Poland launched the issue of the series "Polish Painters of the XIX/XX century", the aim of which is to present the profiles of the most outstanding Polish painters who created at the turn of the XIX and XX century. The following coins were issued in the series: in 2002: Jan Matejko (1838-1893) in 2003: Jacek Malczewski (1854-1929) in 2004: Stanisław Wyspiański (1869-1907) in 2005: Tadeusz Makowski (1882-1932) in 2006: Aleksander Gierymski (1850-1901) in 2007: Leon Wyczółkowski (1852-1936) in 2009: Władysław Strzemiński (1893-1952) in 2010: Arthur Grottger (1837-1867) in 2011: Zofia Stryjeńska (1891-1976) in 2012: Piotr Michałowski (1800-1855) in 2014: Józef Chełmoński (1849-1914) in 2015: Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski (1849-1915) in 2016: Olga Boznańska (1865-1940) Tadeusz Makowski - painter, graphic artist. During his studies he travelled to Venice, after graduation he left for Paris and stayed there permanently. He especially often painted children, later also old people, and always liked flowers and landscapes. He exhibited a lot in France, while in the country he was not particularly famous. Today he is considered one of the most interesting Polish painters of the interwar period.
