The Terracotta Army is considered one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century! Discovered in 1974 by farmers digging a well, this huge group of 8,000 sculptures astounded the world. During the excavation, soldiers, horses and carriages were discovered. This incredible army was built as a guardian of the afterlife of China's First Emperor, Qin Shihuang. What is most impressive is the extraordinary detail of each sculpture. The soldiers have different facial expressions, features, clothing and armour.  The army lay underground for over 2,000 years. It is now considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the world. The find was lauded as the Eighth Wonder of the World and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987. The coin features ultra-high relief, so to speak, bringing the army back to life! The soldier have been covered in rose gold, to make them stand out from the background.
