Third coin from the series "Grand Shipwrecks in a History".
Vasa is a Swedish ship (galleon) built in the 17th century. In its time it was considered the most technologically advanced warship. Including the bowsprit it was 69 m long and nearly 12 m wide. The highest mast reached 30 m above the deck. The ship was also famous for its beautiful appearance. The hull was made of noble black oak.
The ship was badly built - it was too heavy and too much armed equipment was carried on it. On 10 August 1628 she set out on her first trial voyage, but due to inadequate construction she tilted and sank. Vasa lay at the bottom for 333 years almost intact. The ship was recovered on 24 April 1961. Today the ship is placed in the Vasa Museum on Djurgården in Stockholm.
The whole is packed in a theme box with certificate of authenticity.
