This is the first coin of the "Masters of Art" series. One of the world's greatest artists, Vincent Van Gogh, was a painter whose work - distinguished by beauty, emotion and colour - had a major impact on 20th century art. He struggled with mental illness and was poor and practically unknown all his life. Vincent van Gogh has completed over 2100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and over 1300 watercolours, drawings and sketches. In 10 years, van Gogh has created over 43 self-portraits. The self-portrait on which this collector coin is directly based comes from 1887. This silver coin has an engraving that shows even the smallest details and facial features.
