The latest coin portrays the Venus De Milo - one of the most popular statues, and one that is also associated with many stories abd mysteries. A masterpiece by an unknown author. The Venus De Milo is known all over the world. There are many stories about how it was discovered. One of these stories goes that it could have been born before Christ. The statue was found on the island of Milos in the Aegean Sea. Today, it is believed that this statue is the work of Alexandros of Antioch.  One story says that this special work of art could have remained undiscovered for a long time, had an ordinary soldier not visited the island of Milos where the Venus De Milo had been found by a local farmer. The farmer found the statue by accident and kept it in a goat pen next to his house. The statue soon travelled to the Louvre, where it was introduced to the world.
