Vlad III The Impaler is both a terrifying and interesting character. He was an inspiration for the book and film character - Dracula.
Vlad was a Wallachian prince and ruthless leader, whose cruel methods of punishing his enemies sowed fear in 15th century Europe. He used extremely cruel measures to arouse fear in those who opposed him. The nickname "impaler" came from one of his methods - he was making enemies on a stake. There were stories about Vlad drinking the blood of his enemies, which later inspired Stoker's Gate when he created Count Dracula, a vampire, in 1897. Historians claim that Vlad's appalling methods prevented the Ottoman Empire from invading Europe.
