Argali is a species of wild sheep that inhabits the highlands of East Asia, the Himalayas, Tibet and the Altai Mountains. They reach a height of up to 135 cm and a length of up to 200 cm. They are adapted to high frosts and very high altitudes (up to 5800 m) Adult argali eat 16-19 kg of food per day, mainly grass. Argali are considered a near endangered species due to domestic animal husbandry and hunting, as there is a strong temptation among sport hunters to get a trophy of their horns. The coin was struck in pure silver. The reverse depicts an argali. The side profile is done in very high relief, with amazing detail on the fur and horns. The obverse depicts the horns of the argali.
