Gustav Klimt was born in 1862 in Baumgarten, died in 1918 in Vienna. Austrian painter and graphic artist, representative of symbolism and secession. He was educated at the Viennese School of Craftsmanship and initially specialized in decorative art. In 1897, together with other artists, he founded the Association of Austrian Artists - Art Nouveau. It was then that he finally rejected academic canons in favor of the avant-garde. His painting is distinguished by its rich ornamentation and bold use of color, especially gold. Women were the dominant motif of his work, but he is also known for his landscapes.
