In memory of the Ulm Family - Blessed Samaritans

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) recently unveiled a new collector's coin that commemorates the remarkable story of the heroic Ulm family, who sheltered Jews during World War II at great risk to their own lives.

The reverse side of the coin depicts the Blessed Ulm Family - Józef and Wiktoria along with their children: Stanisława, Barbara, Władysław, Franciszek, Antoni, and Maria. A distinctive feature is the heart-shaped amber, symbolizing their seventh child.

On the obverse side of the coin, there is a composition of a palm leaf and lily flowers. The palm leaf symbolizes martyrdom, while the seven lily flowers represent the innocence of the seven children.

This unique combination of symbols illustrates the profound significance of the Ulm family's history and their sacrifice during World War II.

The issuance of this coin by the NBP pays tribute to the memory of the Ulm family and their heroic actions during the most difficult times. It is also a recognition of all those who, risking their own lives, worked to save others during the war.

This coin not only serves as a valuable addition to numismatic collections but also reminds us of important values such as courage, compassion, and sacrifice, which are incredibly relevant even in the most challenging moments of history.
