The Australian Kookaburra, one of the most esteemed bullion coin series, has reached its thirty-fifth edition in the year 2024. Since its debut in 1990, this series has gained immense popularity among collectors and investors worldwide.

The Kookaburra series has been in existence since 1990. The silver coin, for many years, was minted with a fineness of 999. Last year, the coin's fineness was increased to 9999.

The first edition was only available in one denomination - 1 ounce. Subsequent editions were produced in four different weights: 1 kilogram, 10 ounces, 2 ounces, and 1 ounce. In 2010, the collection was streamlined, limited to three weights: 1 kilogram, 10 ounces, and 1 ounce.

Every year, the reverse design of the coin changes, making each edition unique and attractive to collectors.

In the year 2024, the reverse features a flying kookaburra with its beak aimed towards a gorge, gripping a snake in its talons. In addition to the inscription "KOOKABURRA," the design includes details such as the coin's weight, purity, the year 2024, and the mintmark "P125," symbolizing the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint.

The reverse design was crafted by Sean Rogers.

The obverse of the coin features for the first time a portrait of His Royal Majesty - King Charles III, created by Dan Thorne, along with the monetary denomination.

The Kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher species and is a bird associated with the Australian bush. This bird species is native to Australia and is known for its distinctive call, which resembles human laughter.

Kookaburra is recognized as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965.
